Scuba Diving Mask Fitting Guide

Buying any piece of scuba diving equipment is an investment of your money. There is nothing worse than realising it doesn't fit you when you get in the water for the first time. So to stop you wasting your money and time we are going to tell you how to fit your mask.

The way you do not fit a mask is put it on your face and breath in through your nose. Doing it like this will make almost any mask seem like it fits your face. The reason for this is your creating the seal by your self by breathing through your nose.

So how do you fit your mask?

To start take your mask and place it on your face without the strap on your head. Then you are going to tilt your head back to stop the mask falling off your face.

The first test is to run your fingers around mask skirt checking for any gaps between your face and the mask. The main places the mask will not fit are on the edges around your eyes and your top lip.

If the first test works there should be a good seal to your face.

The second test is to put the mask strap on and tighten the mask enough that it stays on your face. Now make sure the mask still fits well using the same test as before.

The last test to check the fit is to smile and equalise(if you use your jaw to equalise when diving) as these actions change the shape of your face.

If after all these tests the mask still fits its a good maks for you.
